Get It Started.

The Basic Construction Process

All construction starts with a good set of plans. Share whatever sketches, lists, photos, or videos you may have with your architect and discuss your intentions for your project. They will provide you with a preliminary rendering and possibly a list of any conceptual limitations. We are happy to weigh-in or provide feedback regarding your choices and their cost-related implications.
Once you are satisfied with the final architectural drawings and contracts are signed, we will provide a scheduled listing of progress payments and projected stage completion dates. At this point we can start corresponding with the architect and gather all information required to get a head-start on the permitting process. Work can commence as soon as the required permit(s) are received, and the initial deposit is paid.
Throughout the build your project manager will be in communication with you to discuss progress, budgets and any thing that arises. We will co-ordinate with your designers and all the subcontractors keeping your project on track. Upon completion we will facilitate all final inspections, accept final payment, complete all release of liens and hand over the keys.

Choosing your Architect

Regardless of what your project is, the best place to start is often with a pencil and paper. You don’t have to be an artist, but even a “horrible” sketch of your intended project can be very useful. At a minimum, you’ll want to at least write down a list of the things you wish to accomplish. If you have a digital camera or a camera phone, take some photos of the existing site; they speak volumes; better yet, take video. As they say, “a picture is worth a thousand words, and a video is worth a thousand pictures.”

Ideally, you want to find an architect who is responsive and has a reasonable workload such that they can provide timely service. Set up an appointment to meet with a few architects in your area. Ask and they’ll usually tell you how busy they are and how soon they will be able to spend time on your project. You’ll want to choose an architect that is pragmatic and to the point but will still spend some time with you making sure your vision is well represented. You don’t want to waste any time, but you should never feel rushed. Communication is key.
